I receive phone calls and emails daily as to whether or not there is free money out there. The answer is no. Here are a couple examples of the sites that you see promising money back if not satisfied.
One client bought the CD ROM that promised the user if they were not completely satisfied and did not receive any money, they would get their money back. The CD cost the user $400. In order to get your money back you have to apply to all 1,000 grants on the CD, have 1,000 rejection letters and then mail all of that back to them. If you look at the amount you are going to pay in postage just to apply to the grants (1,000) and then wait until you receive 1,000 rejection letters your cost in postage alone is at a minimum $500.
Another example is the emails that claim you have already qualified for $160,000 in grants funds. Technically, they are correct but here is the problem with their statements. The grants are actually awarded to cities, utilities, non-profit economic development groups and other non-profit entities as a grant. This grant is to be used to create a Revolving Loan Fund. This fund makes LOW interest LOANS to businesses to help with cash flow and get their business either off the ground or help control growth. So, as the ultimate recipient, you do not receive a grant but the loan you recieve is from a grant program. Clear as mud, right?
If you have questions about a claim or email you received, please post it on this board or if you have another example to add to this saga.
